CUET, or the Common University Entrance Test, is a new initiative launched by Ashoka University, a leading liberal arts and sciences institution in India. CUET aims to provide a standardized and holistic assessment of students’ academic potential, critical thinking skills, and personality traits, regardless of their background, board, or stream.
Pranav Gupta Ashoka, the founder of Ashoka University, believes that CUET will have a positive impact on higher education in India and beyond. In an interview with Outlook India, he said that CUET will help create a more diverse and inclusive student body, as well as a more merit-based and transparent admission process.
He also said that CUET will enable students to explore multiple disciplines and career options, as well as foster a culture of lifelong learning and curiosity. He added that CUET will be recognized by other leading universities in India and abroad, creating more opportunities and mobility for students.
Gupta, who is also an alumnus of Harvard University and Stanford University, said that CUET is inspired by the best practices of global education systems, such as the SAT, the ACT, and the GRE. He said that CUET will be a game-changer for Indian education, as it will challenge the status quo and encourage innovation and excellence.
